I was camping in the Idaho mountains near McCall over Labor Day weekend for a family reunion. As we were driving up, we could see the smoke from the wildfires there. It was near sundown so the smoke was rose and blood colored. It was quite eerie to see all that smoke coming over a mountain and spreading over the sky. A new fire started the night we were there, about 25 miles away. Ash rained down on our camp like a light snowstorm. It was so strange. We could also not see far for all the smoke. Quite the experience and not quite what we expected.
