Friends for a Minute or Two

I was thinking on my way home today about the people that have entered my life, sometimes for a lifetime, sometimes for years, and sometimes just for a minute or two. I made some nice friends for just a few minutes today. I will probably never see them again, but I enjoyed the time we spent talking. I didn't even catch their names.

The first one I met at the Harvard Extension School master's program information session. We started talking before the session started and continued talking after the session ended. She is a nurse who works at MGH and would like to get a degree in museum studies. She's probably in her mid 40's to early 50's, but we connected for a brief moment in time.

The second I met when I was walking from Alewife to where my car was parked. She just moved to Boston from Chicago a year ago, but she loves it here and wants to stay, even it if takes 10 years to be able to afford a house. She works at Novartis, so is one of the few random people I meet who actually has a good idea what I do for a living.

I love these random meetings with people and all my "friends for a minute or two"

Good way to think of it - I love meeting people like that and feeling so comfortable to talk to them.
