I saw this
article about workers' graves discovered near the pyramids and it brought back memories. I was there almost 10 years ago. The pyramids are huge--the stones on the bottom are almost as tall as I am. I paid extra to go inside. We had to walk up a really steep ramp and came to that room that was about 20 feet by 20 feet and maybe 10 feet tall. This room was where the pharoah was buried with all his earthly possessions, and everything he needed to get to the next life. They even found some boats buried outside the pyramid for the journey down the river. As far as I could tell, this room was the only room in the pyramid. Everything else was just structural or for show. I found it quite ironic that such a small space (comparatively) was used in such a magnificent structure.

I'd love to go see the pyramids. It is interesting that thousands of workers worked on the tombs for only a few rulers. It seems a little backwards. An interesting slant on being prepared for eternity.
