I have lived my entire life in the US, with only a couple of short visits outside the country. When I was in 9th grade, one of my friends told me I had an accent from Czechoslavakia. Over the years I have been told all kinds of things--from perfect diction and no accent, to accents from England and Ireland. I've never actually been told I have a Utah/Idaho accent until the previous posting. I have had people who are native to Ireland and England tell me that I have an Irish or English accent. Seems to be the perception of the people I am talking to, rather than an accent I do or don't have.
