I was in charge of making invitations for a Church activity. I think they turned out very nicely. I used vellum paper & had no problem printing on injket vellum from my inkjet printer. It was only $4 for 10 sheets at Paper Source. I then printed the information on cream cardstock and tied with a chocolate brown ribbon. The color image on the vellum is a picture of Christ surrounded by children.
It was so easy that I think I'll try this again. It does take time to assemble 20 invitations though.
