Rescuing the beetle

It was a busy morning at our house. My sister left for about 1/2 hour to drop off her oldest child and run to the store. During that time my nephew J was bit by the dog, we rescued a beetle, and took a dead spider to the trash. Everyone had to look at the beetle and watch me rescue it from the inside stairs, and look at the dead spider before I picked it up (with lots of toilet paper!) Rescuing the beetle (taking it outside rather than killing it) was the most excitement, as I guess the beetle is usually killed rather than rescued.

Beetles, spiders, dogs and kids...what a fun combination. You were brave to pick up the beetle...you could have had one of the kids help, but they may have dropped it and you would have to start all over.

Yes, you are right. Creatures in MY house are killed. But, I do teach my kids that if they find insects outside that they are to leave them alone (or atleast not kill them) because outside is THEIR house. Thanks for taking care of it!
