Most embarrassing moments

I was reading a friend's blog post about her most embarrassing moments. Here are two of my most embarrassing moments. The first one is probably the most mortifying (at the time) b/c everything is mortifying in junior high and high school.

1) I played the cello (but not well) from 6th grade through 10th grade. We had concerts once or twice a year. For those who have never been to an orchestra concert, the members are seated in a 1/2 circle around the conductor. The orchestra all exits through the stage doors on the audience's left. The cello are in the right side (of the audience) so to exit they must go all the way around. At the end of a junior high or high school concert, I wasn't paying much attention to my endpin (the metal segment at the bottom of the cello) and knocked over a music stand. In a domino effect, every music stand knocked over the next music stand. We were all blocked and couldn't get out. I'm not sure how I eventually made it out, but I was mortified to start the domino effect in front of my friends and family (and even worse--everyone else in the audience).

2) I was cooking dinner for a group of my friends and our dates on Preference Night (girl ask boy dance) at college. I accidentally started a fire in a pot on my stove. The cabinets up above the stove caught fire and everyone had to evacuate for a good 45 minutes. My timing couldn't be worse. Many of the girl's dates showed up while we were waiting to get back in, many still in their bathrobes. Needless to say, I wasn't the most popular girl in my dorm that night. The firemen were able to put out the fire pretty quickly, without much damage other smoke damage and the cabinet above the stove that needed to be replaced.

How is it that I remember the second one and not the first one - I must not have gone to that one, but I'm sure you would have told me about it.

The first happened after I moved from Arizona, which is probably why you don't remember it. I was SO embarrassed!

I can just picture all the music stands falling down one after the other. That's a good one!

I laughed out loud at the music stands one. I can totally imagine that happening. It's a good thing I wasn't in orchestra--I'm sure I would have done the same thing at least once.

I got your tag, I keep forgetting to do it! But I will!
