I was walking to Borders in the Downtown Crossing area after work on Friday and much of my route was blocked off by police. There were rumors of a shooting, but no confirmation by the police. I searched on boston.com today and found this story. The shooting occurred right around where the area of Downtown Crossing in the picture above. I probably came by between 4:30 and 4:40--just a few minutes after it all went down. The Boston Globe reported that rival gangs may be trying to claim the area as their own. I don't do a lot of shopping there, and may now do even less.

YIKES! Good thing you came by a few minutes AFTER the whole episode.
That's pretty scary. I think I'd chose a new shopping area.
That is crazy! I say a woman get beaten and mugged last Spring and ever since then I've been thinking that Boston may not be my perfect city anymore. :( It happened in an area I frequently visit. It gave me an errie feeling for quite a while.
